   I ordered this Classroom Training Compass Visual Aid to help teach Scouts compass use and land navigation. I am more than pleased with this item as it is well made and well thought out. The size is nice and large as is the markings, making it much easier to explain and demonstrate the use of a compass instead of trying to point out the features on a normal and fairly small compass in front of a group of students. Since it is not an actual magnetic compass, you can move all the movable components by hand such as the dial(bezel) and the needle to any arbitrary position to explain how to take bearings, following a bearing, and other navigation techniques. It was shipped with spare parts which is very helpful. I was also pleasantly surprised with a few extra things that are available on the MapTools website that I was not expecting and am grateful for them as they will help with instructing the scouts! Thank you MapTools for those extras! I am not going to say what they are, you’re just going to have to order one of these Classroom Visual Aids and find out for yourself. I don’t normally do reviews, but I had to express my appreciation for this small company and their hard work putting out great products. They have definitely made a return customer as I plan on ordering other items that they make and sell. MapTools doesn’t just sell tools for land navigation, they also sell printed resources for learning about map and compass use. I am in no way, shape, or form endorsed by MapTools or paid for reviews. I just believe that small businesses should be supported, especially when they put out great products at a great value. Once again, thank you MapTools and I look forward to doing business with them again!
